Brussels, within reach from Santiago: Flights between Chile and Belgium resume
After two decades without an air connection , Chile and Belgium take a key step to restore their link with the reactivation of flights between Santiago and Brussels .
According to Ladevi Chile , starting in June 2026 , LATAM Airlines and Brussels Airlines will begin operating three weekly flights between the Chilean capital and the Belgian capital, with a stopover in São Paulo , in what is considered the first concrete step towards a future direct Santiago-Brussels route .
The new alternative represents a substantial difference compared to the current options for traveling between the two countries, which require connections in Madrid, London or Paris , lengthening travel times and complicating logistics for both passengers and air cargo.
A strategic connection for Chile and Europe
Belgium ranks as the seventh largest foreign investor in Chile , with a significant presence in the industrial, logistics, and technology sectors. Therefore, this announcement aligns with Chile's need to recover long-haul commercial air routes .

“ In commercial terms, this is a gigantic impact ,” Ann Bruggeman , manager of the Chilean-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (Belgolux), told the newspaper La Segunda .
The industry explains that direct or semi-direct air connectivity is a decisive factor in attracting investment, facilitating business, and strengthening bilateral trade.
While the idea of re-establishing flights between Chile and Belgium had been circulating for years , it wasn't until 2025 that the project gained real momentum. As Ladevi recalls, the turning point was the visit of the King and Queen of Belgium to Chile , their first in sixty years , a high-impact diplomatic event.
Objective: Direct flight Santiago – Brussels
Belgolux explains that the reactivation of the route via São Paulo will be evaluated over time with a clear objective: to move towards a direct connection between Santiago and Brussels.

The underlying goal is to establish a "business corridor" that facilitates the constant flow of executives, investments, trade, and economic cooperation between Chile and Belgium.
The reopening of this air connection not only benefits tourism and frequent travelers, but also repositions Chile on the map of European routes , strengthening its role as a regional hub and improving its access to one of the most important logistics centers on the European continent.
What to see in Brussels
Besides its economic and political importance, Brussels is a destination that combines history, art, gastronomy and urban life , making it an unmissable stop for those traveling to Europe .
The heart of the city is the Grand Place , considered one of the most beautiful squares in the world and a World Heritage Site , surrounded by guild buildings, the City Hall and baroque facades that summarize centuries of European history.

Another of the great icons is the Atomium , a modern symbol of the city built for the 1958 World Expo. Its futuristic structure offers panoramic viewpoints , exhibitions and one of the most recognizable views of the Brussels skyline.

Just a few steps from the historic center appears the famous Manneken Pis , a small statue that has become a cultural emblem and one of the most photographed postcards of Belgium, reflecting the ironic and carefree character of the city.

Brussels also captivates with its gastronomy . Sampling Belgian waffles , artisanal chocolate , and Trappist beers is an essential part of the experience, with traditional chocolatiers and breweries scattered throughout the city. Adding to this is its vibrant cultural scene, with art, comic book, and design museums , as well as charming neighborhoods like Sablon and Ixelles, perfect for exploring on foot.

With the resumption of flights between Chile and Belgium, Brussels is once again positioning itself as a strategic gateway to Europe , combining business opportunities with a solid, diverse and deeply attractive tourism offering for Chilean travelers.
