Cuba implements an electronic visa for tourists

Cuba

Starting July 1, 2025 , Cuba will take a decisive step towards the digital transformation of its migration processes, replacing the traditional tourist card with a modern and mandatory electronic visa , known as eVisa .

This measure marks a turning point for those wishing to enter the Caribbean country, promoting a more agile, safe system in line with current times, strengthening immigration control and the traceability of entries into the country.

From that date, physical tourist cards will officially be withdrawn from circulation. They can only be used until June 30 , making the eVisa the only legal way to enter Cuban territory .

A simple, fast and eco-friendly electronic visa

The Cuban eVisa is processed entirely online through the official website evisacuba.cu . Travelers must have a valid passport , an email address , and pay a $25 fee via direct bank transfer to the Cuban embassy in their country. The estimated processing time is 1 to 3 business days after payment is received.

This tourist visa is valid for a single entry into the country and lasts for one year from the date of issue . Once used, it authorizes a maximum stay of 90 days , extendable for another 90 days .

One of the highlights of this new platform is its accessibility from any device with an internet connection . Furthermore, it allows users to view the status of their application , download their electronic visa , and receive proof of payment via email , eliminating the need to print or submit physical documents.

The system is available 24 hours a day , and has been designed to be environmentally friendly .

D'Viajeros: the second mandatory step to travel to Cuba

Once the eVisa has been granted, the next step is to complete the D'Viajeros digital form within seven days of your trip . This process is free and can also be done online at https://dviajeros.mitrans.gob.cu/inicio . There you will enter your passport information, flight details, and personal information, which must exactly match the information on your eVisa.

After completing this registration, the Cuban authorities will issue a unified document that includes both the eVisa and the D'Viajeros registration , which will be required at the point of entry into the country.

In addition to these digital procedures, it is still mandatory to present travel insurance that covers medical expenses and repatriation for the entire stay, specifying the travel dates and destination .

What to see in Cuba?

In the heart of the Caribbean , Cuba unfolds its charm with two tourist gems that seem straight out of a tropical dream : Havana and Varadero . They are two sides of the same vibrant island , two destinations that complement each other like Cuban rum and son.

Havana , the vibrant capital of history and culture , seduces with its crumbling yet majestic colonial architecture , classic cars that roar like ghosts of the past, and a street life as rhythmic as its music . Walking along the Malecón at sunset or getting lost in the alleyways of Old Havana is a sensory experience that blends art , nostalgia , salsa , and strong coffee .

But if Havana is the living memory of Cuba , Varadero is its more relaxed and paradisiacal side. Located just two hours from the capital , this Cuban treasure of white sand and turquoise waters has been repeatedly chosen as one of the best beach destinations in the Caribbean . Varadero is synonymous with all-inclusive resorts , water sports , rum cocktails , and sunsets that paint the sky a fiery red.
